Shane Hunter

Shane Hunter has been appearing on indie rap compilations since 1996, starting with the 12" vinyl release Mo' Budded Fat Joints.

He since been featured on vinyl, cassette and CD compilations from Rotation Music, Case Records, and Kashmere Sound Distribution among others. His debut album, Conditions and Shifts, was released to critical acclaim in March '07 on 20-year-old indie label Rotation Music.

With an album yet to go for the label but with serious internal conflict, he asked to be released from his contract. A miserable decision to make, seeing that he was, and still is, a fan of the company. Somewhere along the line he realized that if he was ever going to be happy, he needed to do everything himself. Enter Vanity Press Records, a "boutique label" headed up by Hunter and a few pals with the express purpose of releasing his albums (and the odd 7" by favorite bands) with complete control.

S.H. is soon to begin writing songs for his second LP, due in late 08 (fan of 'leaks' such as he is, you can probably bet select MP3s will pop up before then). In the meanwhile, the brilliant Conditions and Shifts is available from all major online retailers (CD Baby, Amazon, etc.) and on iTunes. For (slightly) more up-to-date info, check the other S.H. spots on the links page.
